Squidoo is a social networking site and is a part of the new wave of internet marketing which is commonly referred to as Web 2.0. It is called Web 2.0 because unlike the first wave of marketing on the internet which used static websites in which the content never changed Web 2.0 sites are constantly changing.

Social marketing on sites such as Squidoo had made it easy to interact and build relationships with people that come to your websites.

Squidoo is similar to a blog because you are able to put up your own content with the advantage being that it is much easier to set up than a blog. It only takes a few minutes to join and upload content to your Squidoo site.

Another advantage of Squidoo is that you can create a side income from the advertising from Google add words that are placed around your site and you are able share in the income from these adds.  This income may not be great but having other forms of monetization is an import factor when you are attracting prospect and building your own lists for your network marketing business.

Generating  Traffic To Your Websites

The biggest reason for using Squiddo is that it is a great way to generate traffic to your websites.  The reason for this is that it is well liked by search engines.

This will help you to build your brand, your unique selling point. Before you even have contact with your prospects they will have read your content and know who you are. This is a powerful way to build your brand and stand out. Branding yourself is not about your network marketing business or products it about the unique way you can provide value to your prospects. That is how the “new school” method of network marketing today works.

It is not that hard to set up an account and put up some lenses however if you do things a certain way your chances of success will be much greater. Here are some tips for achieving that.

Go to http://www.squidoo.com and set up an account. After that is done you need to set up your Bio. This tells people what you are about. When you do this make sure it is not all about you. People read Bio’s so make it about how you can help others. Also make sure you include a nice picture of yourself.

You aim with your online marketing is to create an internet presence and brand yourself. A good picture of yourself will enable people to recognize you.

Creating A Squidoo Lens.

First of all you will need a title for your lens. It is important that you use key words that describe what your lens it about. This will help you get found by the search engines.

Not all key words give the same results in search engines. So you need to use the ones that are relevant to you niche and that will provide the best results.

You can find a free keyword tool called wordtracker here at

http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com.

The next thing is to select the Squidoo URL for your lens. Make sure it pertains to your target market. Think about what people will be looking for when they are using a search engine like Google. A point to note that when choosing any URL for any of your websites it is important to use good keys words so your websites get found by the search engines.

Your Best keywords.

You will be asked to put in the best keywords for your lens. Select a couple that you think will give good results from the search engines.

You also need to consider placing key words throughout the content of your lens. Don’t over do it as it could look like span to the search engines.  A few times throughout your lens is fine.

Lens Introduction And Description.

Where your lens title is the headline, your lens introduction needs to address how this lens can be beneficial to people. In your lens description frame what ever your lens is about into a benefit statement.

Upload a picture of yourself. You do not have to do this however by having your photo here you will personalize your lens further and that will help you build relationships with people that come to your site.

RSS Feed.

If you have a blog if you put it in here every time you have a new post on your blog the headlines will automatically show up here. If someone clicks unto these headlines they will be taken to your blog. A good way to get additional traffic to your blog.

Article Text

400 to 600 words is the best length for an article. Depending on what the article is about it could be shorter or longer. You can also divide your article up into different sections or sub topics. For each section you will need to add a text module.

Each module will need a title and body or content for this section. You can also add a subtitle. The title of each module should be the headline and the subtitle should be your benefit statement for that section of your lens.

The key factor with the content is to have great information that is of value to others. You can also include links to your blog or a website that relate to what your article is about.

For example if you are writing about an online network marketing tip you put in a link to Renegade University. Here they can get some free training on using the internet for network marketing.

Additional Modules

There are other modules you can use such as adding YouTube videos. If you have video or you know someone that has a good video that relates to this lens put it in here. If you don’t it not that import at this stage if you are just getting started on Squidoo.

If you are not going to use a module you will need to delete that module from your lens. You don’t want a module to appear on your lens with no content in it as that would not be a good look.

As you are creating your lens make sure you save it.  After you have your lens looking the way you want you need to publish it. The import thing is to get your lens out there. You can always go back and make changes to improve it.

If you make changes and save them you must publish it again so your changes are out there on the internet.
